Custom Shop Lead
Position Summary
The Custom Cabinet Shop Manager oversees all aspects of operations within a custom cabinet manufacturing shop, ensuring efficient production, quality craftsmanship, and timely delivery of custom cabinetry projects.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Develop production schedules and workflows to optimize efficiency and meet project deadlines.
Coordinate with designers, sales teams, and clients to ensure clear communication of project specifications and requirements.
Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes or unexpected delays.
Supervise and motivate production staff, including cabinet production associates and paint associates to achieve high-quality results and meet production targets.
Provide training and guidance to staff on manufacturing techniques, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Conduct inspections of finished cabinetry to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
Address any quality issues or defects promptly, working with staff to implement corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence.
Manage inventory levels of raw materials, hardware, and supplies to support production needs while minimizing excess inventory and waste.
Monitor production costs and expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Collaborate with Account Managers, Designers and other stakeholders to translate client needs and preferences into actionable production plans.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to help employees improve their skills and performance.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Proven experience in cabinet making, woodworking, or custom cabinetry production.
Strong managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
In-depth knowledge of cabinetry construction techniques, materials, and finishes.
Experience with production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to read, write with prolonged periods of standing, bending, squatting, working with a variety of building and construction tools. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
